RAGS TO RICHES
📷
In the weeks preceding the by-election for the mayor’s post, news was rife about Ahn Oh Ju’s candidacy. A radio report on the by-election gave a glowing account of Ahn Oh Ju’s rags-to-riches story. He had started out as someone from the fish market and then founded Oju Group. He had made it big all on his own.
📷
All the facts were dressed up for the public. The accounts were sanitised and the information was glossed over. Fabricated truth. There was no mention of his gangster ties and the ginormous help he got from the previous mayor.
Although Ahn Oh Ju was beginning to get accustomed to the flattering reports that pandered to his ego, too much repetition made him sick of listening to them.

His secretary raised a shocking matter that annoyed him. When they arrived at his favourite traditional noodle shop, the gangster Chairman slapped his secretary twice before they sat down for their meal.
His assistant had been quite careless as he had been oblivious that a tracking device had been placed on his suit jacket.
Bong Sang Pil had succeeded in setting a trap for Ahn Oh Ju.
The smart Chairman knew it just meant one thing - Bong got involved in the trial to get him from the very beginning. However, he was glad that the problem of the hitman had been solved. He was dead. Ahn gave callous instructions for the body to be thrown into the sea.

FUTURE FATHER-IN-LAW
📷
Bong Sang Pil had brought a very drowsy Ha Jae Yi back to her home. It was impossible to be truly awake when one was suffering from shock and exhaustion. She was worn out by her nerve-wracking experience in the subway tunnel.
Upon arrival, Bong stared at the photograph of Noh Hyun Joo, Ha Jae Yi’s mother. A nostalgic moment. He was always reminded of her as she had given her life for him.
Ha Jae Yi, having woken up, had observed him; she had wondered why he had been staring at her mother's photograph.

She joked that her experience in the tunnel had made her jittery through and through.
After having seen him in a different light at the tunnel, she shuddered at the thought of being with him. He was like a wild animal who couldn’t to be stopped.

Ha Gi Ho, her father, was more than happy to be introduced to his daughter’s boss. Bong Sang Pil was charming and amiable - the ever-polite and respectful gentleman.
Ha Jae Yi mumbled that Bong Sang Pil was a different person in the presence of elders.

The older man was impressed and invited him for a drink. Why not? A prospective boyfriend needed to get to know his future father-in-law and to impress him further. The girl protested but to no avail.

Ha Gi Ho was deliriously happy that Bong Sang Pil had deducted the accumulated interest from their loan. Ha Jae Yi was surprised as there had been no mention of it in their conversations.
Two of his underlings had even dropped by quite some time ago to offer their sincere apologies. All the destruction that they had caused to their humble little shop had been fully compensated.
And on top of that, the interest for their loan had been reduced.
My, was Ha Gi Ho suitably impressed! Such a generous and magnanimous man! Ha Jae Yi must have also been touched by his act of kindness.

Her father enquired about his family; he was compelled to bring up his single-parent family but he added that his mother was a lawyer like Ha Jae Yi.
He never mentioned his father, so one wondered about his paternal parent.

Ha Gi Ho also mentioned the similarities between the two young persons as they had lost their mothers and he expressed his hope that his daughter would follow in the footsteps of Judge Cha Moon Sook.

FINGERPRINT SENSOR
📷
The murder trial should have turned out to be a nightmare for the lawless group but it had not. Instead, it had become more exciting.
The creative minds and consummate skills of the lawless group had made their search for law solutions more interesting at every twist and turn.
📷
📷
The dead hitman’s phone, the latest version, was a valuable find. Bong Sang Pil requested Tae Kwang Soo to unlock the phone. Bong had surreptitiously stolen the gadget before the police showed up.
The mobile phone seemed to have sophisticated security features, particularly, the fingerprint sensor.
If Tae used the special computer unlocking program, it would three days to unlock the secrets but that was too time consuming so they had to think creatively.

The phone probably had valuable information that would crack the murder case. The matter was urgent so Bong instructed Tae to use the other option - to unlock the phone manually using the phone’s fingerprint scanning technology.
There were two ways to save Wu Hyeong Man. Capturing the Fixer was one way. But, if they could unlock the secrets in the mobile phone of the hitman, they might learn secrets that were crucial to the case.

Geum Gang, who was tailing the Fixer, was handed a more important task. He was on the stakeout of the hit man. The man appeared to be angrily shouting into the phone.
Tailing criminals was such a pleasant and fun job. In fact, Geum Gang felt like Sherlock Holmes himself.
However, Geum Gang was instructed to move to more interesting work at the hospital mortuary. Someone would relieve him of his task.

Judge Cha Moon Sook and her right-hand woman-cum-secretary, Nam Soon Ja, were at a Roman Catholic church.
They were not there to confess their multifarious sins.
📷
Nam was worried about the Judge Cha’s decision to promote Ahn Oh Ju as the next mayor. Judge Cha was the boss and Ahn Oh Ju would do it at her insistence.
Judge Cha advised her assistant to be impeccably polite to the gangster boss when he assumed the post. The two were often at loggerheads with each other.
Nam was worried about the possible frightening consequences if Ahn Oh Ju assumed power. She was about to condemn him but Judge Cha would have none of it.

The conversation moved on to Bong Sang Pil, not a trifling matter. Nam was suspicious of the lawyer as he had been wreaking havoc in their lives.
Which lawyer would be so crazy as to devote so much of his time to win his client’s case? Bong must have a hidden agenda, beyond the trial.
Judge Cha advised Nam not to worry her pretty head off because Ahn Oh Ju was looking into the matter.

Tae Kwang Soo and Geum Gang had arrived at the mortuary to find a certain corpse. It was soon revealed that it was that of the hitman.
Their mission was to unlock the dead man’s mobile phone using his fingerprint. The fingerprint was like a dead lock to open the mobile phone. It was the key to the information that they badly wanted.
Geum Gang certainly had no morbid fascination with dead bodies. In fact, he shuddered to be in the presence of the dead. His fear made him apologetic to the corpse.

Opening one of the freezers in the morgue, Geum Gang, the funny man wanted to cut off the finger of the corpse.
Worried that the silly man would mess things up, Tae Kwang Soo reassigned him to be on the lookout for intruders.
Tae was about to do the fingerprinting when Geum Gang gave a warning shout.

Someone was approaching so they had to hide somewhere. Were they able to hide in the freezer with the corpse?
Most likely, they hid in the storeroom, having towed the corpse with them.
Face to face with the corpse, it was impossible for Geum Gang to view the corpse with detachment.
It was horrendous but the funny man successfully completed his mission. He placed the corpse’s forefinger on the fingerprint sensor and the mobile phone was instantly unlocked.
And with that, the cryptic messages could now be analysed and deciphered.

GANGSTER-TURNED-ART GALLERY OWNER
📷
Choi Dae Woong had come to town. He was in deep conversation with his nephew. They were talking about Judge Cha’s intention of making Ahn Oh Ju the next mayor. Choi had a shock. Yes, it would make a good laugh. But, nothing was impossible with Cha Moon Sook.
📷
📷
📷
Ha Jae Yi, who had returned to the law office. overheard part of their conversation. With Ha’s appearance, Choi Dae Woong knew that it was time to leave the office.
As he bid Bong farewell, he handed Ha Jae Yi his business card. It was surprising that he had become a legitimate businessman. Choi was the owner of an art gallery in Seoul. When did the gangster boss start to appreciate art?

Ha Jae Yi was overcome with curiosity about why they were discussing Judge Cha. The two men seemed to have things in common.
She was inquisitive about Bong’s suspicions of the judge and her curiosity led her to question Bong Sang Pil about his hidden past.
He seemed to have solid reasons to suspect certain people, not just anyone. By then, she was not just driven to find out more about him. In fact, she wanted Bong Sang Pil to walk her through his whole history.
But, the secretive lawyer didn’t want to frighten her. Undeterred, she would in the future take steps to dredge out his dark past.

Ahn Oh Ju, who was smarting from Bong’s success in challenging him in the on-going trial, was furious with the lawyer for trying to wreck his plans to be the next mayor.
Were Bong Sang Pil and Choi Dae Woong involved in a conspiracy against him?

CELL PHONE CALL HISTORY
📷
Tae Kwang Soo had retrieved the hitman’s call log and analysed the history.
But unfortunately, the hitman was smart enough not to have saved any names, so the lawless team had to work with what they had in hand.
📷
Bong Sang Pil wanted information on the people whom the hitman called the most before his death. He was certain that there was a connection between him and the Chairman of the Ohju Group.
📷
📷
Bong was looking at Ha Jae Yi who seemed to be curious about their suspicious behaviour.
She was seated at her desk trying to figure out their plans and schemes. Bong Sang Pil seemed to be holding a mobile phone which she was convinced was not his.
She recalled Prosecutor Kang Yeon Hee's suspicion that Bong had stolen the hitman’s phone.

Staring at her, Bong Sang Pil cheekily asked Tae whom he thought would be most upset if the person knew that Bong was in possession of the stolen phone.
Bong gave Ha Jae Yi a flirting look through the glass partition of his own office.
Tae smiled and implied that it should be Ahn Oh Ju.
📷
📷
📷
📷
‘Shall I brag about it, then?’ Was he going to brag about it to Ha Jae Yi? She would be hopping mad. A piece of evidence that was illegally obtained would be unacceptable in court.
Bong wasn’t going to tell her but he allowed the phone to be easily spotted by her. It would keep her wondering for days. He was going to let her curiosity simmer until she couldn’t suppress it any longer. Bong Sang Pil was a real tease.
If Bong Sang Pil had the hitman’s mobile phone, he should flaunt it! His conflict with Ahn Oh Ju had been brought out into the open. He intended to taunt the gangster Chairman further to get his blood pressure up and make him boil with rage.
Bong bade her goodnight.
📷

📷
Ha Jae Yi was mulling over Bong's confrontation with Ahn Oh Ju that day.
In his prickly conversation with Ahn Oh Ju, Bong Sang Pil had revealed that he was originally from Ki Seong. She still couldn't make head or tail of his resentment against the gangster boss.
Then, he had revealed to her father that, like her, his mother was also a lawyer.
Who exactly was Bong Sang Pil, anyway?
