Moon Lovers - Scarlet Heart Ryeo: Ranked First In SBS Drama Lineup

MOON LOVERS – SCARLET HEART: RYEO

RANKED FIRST

IN SBS DRAMA LINEUP

(GOOD DATA CORPORATION)

MOON LOVERS – SCARLET HEART: RYEO

THE BEST SBS DRAMA

📷

Did Good Data Corporation spring a surprise on the South Korean public recently? In a report by Osen based on the data produced by Good Data Corporation, SBS’s Moon Lovers - Scarlet Heart: Ryeo ranks THIRD out of the ‘Top 50 KDramas 2016’.

📷

The Wang So-Hae Soo couple is also ranked as one of the best drama couples.

📷

📷

KBS’s Descendants of the Sun is ranked first and Moonlight Drawn By Clouds, also from KBS, is second.

Therefore, it means that Moon Lovers – Scarlet Heart Ryeo is SBS’s ‘Best Drama in 2016’. The announcement has provided no unexpected surprises for the fans of Lee Joon Gi and his drama, Moon Lovers – Scarlet Heart: Ryeo as they have staunchly believed right from the beginning that it is the best 2016 drama and are now proven 100% to be correct.

One of the ‘Best Couples’

As for the other SBS dramas, Doctors ranks seventh (7), Jealousy Incarnate is tenth (10), The Legend of the Blue Sea is number 13 and Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim is ranked 26.

A GLOBAL SUCCESS

LEE JOON GI

AND

MOON LOVERS – SCARLET HEART: RYEO

📷

In the article by Osen it was noted that Good Data Corporation had carried out surveys based on online netizens' response to the dramas, blogs, SNS etc* to arrive at their results. It is said that the top-ranked dramas are the most discussed dramas.

Descendants of the Sun is reported to have obtained 646,903 points (3.367%), followed by Moonlight Drawn By Clouds (1.954%) and then, Scarlet Heart (1.781%). That Scarlet Heart is beaten by DOTS and Moonlight Drawn By Clouds is quite interesting. The difference between MDBC and MLSHR is negligible. Scarlet Heart is far too close for comfort. Would Lee Joon Gi’s fans believe the data? They are perhaps waiting to protest.

📷

One good thing about the Good Data report is that it has, at least, prevented Moon Lovers - Scarlet Heart: Ryeo, its cast and production staff from being victimised. When one thinks of it, many of the MLSHR thespians and staff have put in so much time, energy and odd hours to produce such a stupendous drama only to be steamrolled by the unfair and vicious online commenters and nearly crushed by the ambiguous and debatable drama rankings.

The traditional ratings seemed to be the gospel truth not too long ago. But the truth is finally trickling out. Imagine if there was no Good Data!

📷

Although the Good Data report is about dramas, not actors, the issue of the ‘Best Actor’ has to be raised. Song Joong-ki had been presented with the Seoul International Best Actor Award 2016 because of the high ratings of DOTS.

If he had been presented with an international award, it means he and DOTS had generated a lot of buzz from the international community.

Research into the buzz created by the international drama community is based mostly on English-based drama sites. It is believed that the South Koreans would generally write their comments in their own language.

In a previous article, two (2) examples of English-based drama sites have been provided. Below is another example. Dramabeans is another powerful proof that MLSHR has surpassed all the other dramas in the buzz that has been generated by the global citizens. DOTS has been overrated. There are other examples if one cares to do further research.

📷

The question is: Is Song Joong-ki a better actor than Lee Joon Gi? If one says Song is one of the most popular young South Korean idols or one of the better younger actors of the moment, it may well be true.

📷

But, it is undeniable that Lee Joon Gi is a critically acclaimed actor, and particularly so, in his role as Wang So. The globally influential Lee Joon Gi and his magnificent drama, Moon Lovers – Scarlet Heart: Ryeo, like the tentacles of the intelligent octopus, have far-reaching global effects and a stronger Hallyu hold than DOTS. One salient difference between the two is DOTS is made for the moment but MLSHR is made to be a legend – an epic tale to be enjoyed for generations to come.

If Song Joong-ki deserves such an international award, so does Lee Joon Gi. As Lee Joon Gi’s global popularity skyrockets, so does his drama, MLSHR. Shouldn’t Lee Joon Gi garner the Seoul International Best Actor Award in 2017? Shouldn’t other international awards be also his for the taking?

📷

The global audience has not only raved about Lee Joon Gi’s spectacular performance as Wang So but also his equally unforgettable drama, MLSHR. Lee has parlayed his dazzling acting skills into making MLSHR a phenomenal and much-talked about drama. To the viewers, particularly the global viewers, Lee Joon Gi’s performance is unparalleled. One may not remember who Captain Yoo Si-jin is in the near future, but Wang So has definitely left an indelible mark on every viewer’s mind ever since it was aired.

📷

To all the fans and admirers, Moon Lovers – Scarlet Heart: Ryeo is undeniably a South Korean drama masterpiece. MLSHR’s haunting character-driven glimpse into Goryeon history has ramped up the standards of South Korean dramas. The drama is superior to every other 2016 drama in many other ways.

Think of the astounding scenery and cinematography, the impressive choreography of the fight action, the beautiful wardrobes, the fantastic OSTs and the awesome script - the exciting tale with its shocking or delightful twists and turns. Everything has the feel of an epic movie.

📷

But, the best of all, is the unforgettable and commanding presence of the formidable leading actor, Lee Joon Gi. He is supported by many excellent actors and actresses - the veterans as well as the younger thespians.

Unsurprisingly, the SBS drama has been acclaimed as a resounding global success.

THE SBS DRAMA AWARDS SEASON

2016

📷

The SBS Drama Awards Season has finally arrived. In the spotlight is Lee Joon Gi, a versatile star of the first-magnitude who stands out sharply as the most outstanding and unforgettable South Korean actor. No drama actor has won more durable success than Lee. His unquestionable appeal to women of all ages and some enthusiastic men has made him the biggest star this year. Wang So has induced the passionate admiration of those who have watched the drama.

THE FOURTH PRINCE

REIMAGINED

📷

📷

It is indisputable that Lee Joon Gi has totally revolutionised the image of Goryeo’s Fourth Prince. Lee has smashed the conventional image of the shrewd and patient Bu Bu Jing Xin’s Fourth Prince, and reinvented and reimagined Goryeo’s Fourth Prince. Lee Joon Gi’s passionate portrayal of Wang So, a ferocious yet vulnerable wolfdog prince, is the reason for the viewers’ fixation with the Fourth Prince. Lee’s compelling performance has won him an enduring place in the South Korean drama industry as he has evoked critical esteem for his brilliant performance.

MLSHR is a drama that is scripted to last. It makes for good entertainment for years to come - thanks to its excellent writing and the cast, especially Lee Joon Gi. The drama is one of life’s guilty pleasures – it is an addictive drama that is being watched over and over again by many fascinated viewers.

📷

While Moon Lovers – Scarlet Heart: Ryeo is an adaptation of the novel Bu Bu Jing Xin, the drama is not a carbon copy of the scripted events in the novel. Most of the incidents have deviated from the novel except for a few iconic scenes like Hae Soo kneeling in the lashing rain and being protected by Wang So’s billowy robes. Although the MLSHR Wang So–Hae Soo boat trip is reminiscent of the one taken by Yinzhen and Ruoxi to the lotus-filled lake in Bu Bu Jing Xin, Lee Joon Gi has made the boat scene his very own by rowing the boat around the lake and cheekily rocking the boat. He has such good rollicking fun!

MOMENT OF TRUTH

📷

Few things are more powerful than actor-fan connection in the South Korean entertainment world. Lee Joon Gi’s domestic and global fans rally around him and would be watching to see whether SBS is going to present the megawatt star with the prestigious Daesang award, an award that he totally deserves. The core issue and the burning question on every fan’s mind is: ‘Would SBS dispense, with justice or dispense with justice?  Would Lee Joon Gi be feted by SBS?

The Moon Lovers – Scarlet Heart: Ryeo audience are all rooting for Lee Joon Gi and will be keeping their fingers crossed that he would sweep the awards, including the Daesang. The year-end SBS drama awards show is expected to be a stunning triumph for the gorgeous South Korean heartthrob.

Sentiment and drama commentary have also become increasingly in favour of the MLSHR cast. Moon Lovers – Scarlet Heart: Ryeo is also expected to sweep all the awards. The audience, in excited expectancy, believe the show is going to be a blast.

All the popular SBS drama stars are gearing up for the big night on New Year’s Eve.
